Lou Braibant

Lou Braibant is an FWO-funded Doctoral Researcher at Ghent University’s Department of Literary Studies, where he investigates the construction of child figures in contemporary American eco-comics and how graphic narratives, as a networked medium, can reshape beliefs about the child in a changing world. Lou’s other interests beyond ecocriticism and comics are (but not limited to): intermedia studies, zine studies, queer studies, and decolonial perspectives. He is affiliated with both the COMICS team (Prof. Dr. Maaheen Ahmed) and the Post-Mesh Lab (Prof. Dr. Marco Caracciolo). Lou will participate and support these two teams and their respective sections during the project.

Lou obtained his first master’s degree (Languages and Literature: English) at Ghent University and his second master’s degree (Advanced Master’s in Literary Studies) at KU Leuven, both earned in 2024. He also has a background in Swedish studies (undergraduate studies). So far, he has presented on Nora Krug’s Heimat (2018) at the international “2024 Comprehending Comics” conference (Palacký University). Previously, he worked as a librarian in the Faculty Library’s comics collections.
