Clara Vilaboa Sáenz de Lubiano is a PhD student at the University Autònoma of Barcelona (Spain). Clara is an alumna of the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), with a Bachelor’s in Teaching Elementary Education, and the University of Glasgow (United Kingdom), with a Master of Education in Children’s Literature & Literacies. Her thesis “Comics and graphic novels in the literary education of the child reader: value, didactic function and literary learning” focuses on studying comics in the context of Elementary Education. As part of her thesis, she has performed a theoretical literature review and an ethnographic and collaborative study in a public Elementary school in Barcelona. Through this research, Clara aims to understand how comics are integrated into the school’s learning ecosystem. She is currently doing a research stay at Ghent University with the COMICS research group (January to May 2023).
